Gene began losing his hair at 23 years of age. Even though he felt young, the aging process was on a fast track because he was balding at a young age. He researched his options and made the decision to try a non-surgical hair system. As the surgical procedures advanced in technology, he decided to go with natural growing hair and did away with the hair system. Gene started researching hair transplant companies, and in 1998 had his first hair transplant procedure. He was so impressed with his result, that he became a consultant for the company and physician.

Gene had a second procedure in 2007 to add more density to his existing transplanted areas. “It’s by far the best thing I’ve ever done and I would recommend it to anyone trying to maintain a more youthful appearance,” says Gene. “It’s been an amazing journey, and it’s a wonderful feeling to help people meet their expectations.” Gene has been a hair restoration consultant for the past 20 years and is working with National Hair Centers as one of three image consultants, financing specialist, and laser therapy expert. Gene’s knowledge on all aspects of the hair transplant industry including FUT, FUE, Non-prescription medications, Prescription Medications and Low-Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) is unsurpassed. How and when did you get started at National Hair Centers?

I started working on the hair transplant side at National Hair Centers over six years ago.

How many years do you have as a consultant in the hair loss industry?

I’ve been a consultant in this industry for 25 years.

What do you love most about what you do?

The best part about my job is being able to help so many people who had otherwise given up hope when it comes to managing their hair loss. Hair transplants change lives and getting to witness that is one of the best perks of my job!

Describe the ideal candidate for a hair transplant.

Transplant candidates must have ample donor hair. In addition, realistic expectations are a must.

How do transplants at National Hair Centers differ from other transplant companies?

A big part is attributed to the skill level of our surgeons. Talented surgical technicians are also incredibly important for a great outcome.

When would a woman be a good candidate for a hair transplant?

This is a challenging question. There are several factors that determine if a woman is a good candidate. Typically, women’s hair thins, rather than the traditional loss we see in men. Because of this, the hair is finer and there isn’t enough actual loss to perform a successful transplant. We need to look at women on a case-by-case basis.

Should men wait until a certain age before deciding on transplant surgery?

Not necessarily. Stopping hair loss in conjunction with a skilled hair transplant truly makes the winning combination.

What kind of results can a person expect when it comes to coverage for a hair transplant?

It really depends on the surface area to fill in and the amount + quality of the donor hair.

Would you consider a hair transplant to be a life-changing event, based on the results you’ve seen from your patients?

Absolutely. Hair transplants can be life-altering.
